Obio/Akpor Boss Fumes, Goes Against Road Side Traders In Rumuokoro

The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers state, Mr Chijioke Ihunwo has charged the leadership of Ward Seven, Rumuokoro to prevail on their people to stop trading along the road in Rumuokoro.

Ihunwo gave this charge when he played host to a delegation from the ward.

He warned of penalties beginning from next week.

According to him, “I am not happy that you people allow our women and others to trade along the roadside not minding the risk it poses.

“Some of you even collect money to permit them to trade along the road but let me tell you that the honeymoon is over, from next week, the council will descend heavily on those who trade along the road because we are concerned about their safety.”

The chairman also declared that he will use the money accrued to the local government for the development of the LGA and her people.

He said one of the things that will work in his favour is that he doesn’t have a godfather that would tell him how to spend the resources of the LGA.

He explained that the many battles against Governor Siminalayi Fubara by the FCT minister, Nyeson Wike are just for the control of the finances of Rivers State.

“Chief Nyesom Wike does not love Rivers State nor her people, he is only interested in perpetually controlling the finances of the state and superintending over its affairs even as the minister of the FCT.

“I therefore challenge you all to redouble your efforts and support for His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara who is more interested in your personal growth and development than himself. You can see that all the programmes of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara are tailored towards the people, the employment, road infrastructure, promotion of civil servants, payment of new minimum wage and the one hundred thousand naira Christmas gifts for all the civil servants in Rivers State, my leader is a good man.” He said.

Speaking further, Ihunwo hinted of plans to unveil a massive empowerment scheme for the people of Obio/Akpor local government.

He however disclosed that women are likely going to be the greatest beneficiaries in appreciation for their support to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

“From next week, we will be rolling out mouthwatering empowerment for our people in the various wards in addition to what we have already started and one of the plans is that we will inaugurate the women empowerment centre.”

“In the past few weeks, we have initiated many projects including the construction of a new chairman’s office, a lodge, grant for Master’s and PhD students et al, so we are doing a lot.”

Delivering the message from the ward, Barr Nweneka Chinoa JP told the council boss that they are pleased with his all inclusive style of leadership and commended him for the achievements recorded so far.

He particularly thanked Amb. Ihunwo for his support to their son and deputy leader of Obio/Akpor legislative council, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Nwanwa.

Like Oliver Twist, Barr Nweneka Chinoa urged the council to give more appointments to their sons and daughters while also asking for more projects in ward seven including transformers.

Adding his voice in a closing remark, the leader of the Simplified Movement in ward seven, Hon. Ozuru Loveday Nwanwa assured the chairman of the council of their support and by extension, Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In the entourage were the paramount ruler of Rumuokoro clan, His Royal Highness, Eze Allwell Owhonda and the deputy leader of Obio/Akpor legislative council, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Nwanwa amongst others.
