I’m Not Crazy About Having A Solid Relationship, Ini Edo Responds To Wedding Rumor

Nollywood star Iniobong Edo has candidly shared that marriage is not on her list of priorities at the moment. The actress revealed that she no longer includes marriage in her prayers or future hopes.

Edo, now 42, married Nigerian-American businessman Philip Ehiagwina on November 29, 2008, in the United States. However, their union ended in 2014, after six years of marriage.

In September 2024, Ini sparked excitement and speculation online when she posted what appeared to be a wedding announcement.

The actress shared a picture of herself dressed in a traditional Efik bridal outfit, which led many to believe she was preparing for her own wedding. Her caption, which discussed love and encouraged her followers to stay hopeful about finding happiness, further fueled the rumors.

However, fans soon discovered that the post was a promotion for her upcoming four-part series My Fairytale Wedding. The show follows the story of a young woman who, with the help of magic (Kayanmata), captures the heart of Lagos’ most eligible bachelor.

In an interview, when asked if she was considering a real-life fairytale wedding in the future, Edo made it clear: “I’m not crazy about marriage; I’m crazy about having a solid relationship. I’m not hoping, and it’s not any of my prayer points.”

The actress also spoke on the growth of the Nollywood industry, especially the growing influence of women.

She praised the contributions of female filmmakers such as Bolanle Austen-Peters, Funke Akindele, and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, noting how women are taking center stage in Nollywood.

“Females on the industry right now. Women have taken their rightful place, and we have equal rights, so the playing field is open to men and women. Women are driven; they will if they want to achieve something.”
