Paul Okoye, one half of the popular Nigerian music duo P-Square, has revealed that he is once again parting ways with his twin brother and bandmate, Peter Okoye.
The pair first made headlines with their breakup in 2017, which shocked fans worldwide. For years, P-Square had been a staple in the Afrobeats genre, producing hit after hit and cementing their status as global icons.
When the brothers reunited in November 2021, fans rejoiced at the prospect of more collaborative music. Yet, it seems that the reunion was short-lived, as Paul recently hinted at deeper issues that have led to another falling out.
Recently, Paul accused Peter in an interview of taking legal action against him by petitioning Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest him. Peter, however, strongly denied these claims and advised his brother to stop suggesting he was the sole driving force behind the P-Square brand’s success.
During an Instagram live session on Wednesday, Paul expressed frustration over what he described as an uneven dynamic in the group. He claimed that he did the bulk of the work while others reaped the benefits, stating that he no longer wishes to continue under such an arrangement.

In his own words, Paul said: “Those days of monkey dey work, baboon dey chop, I no dey do again. So I would rather continue working for myself. Every time, only me dey sing all the songs. I no dey do again.”
Paul had previously mentioned that the ongoing rift with his twin brother is more complex than it appears on the surface, indicating that their disputes are far from being resolved.
Both brothers have remained somewhat private about the specifics of their disagreements, leading to widespread speculation in the media. Their 2017 breakup was followed by individual solo careers, with Paul performing under the stage name “Rudeboy” and Peter as “Mr. P.” While both artists found moderate success on their own, their individual efforts did not quite match the massive impact they had as a duo.
