In the effort to light up communities and Local Government Area (LGA) in Rivers State, the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA) speaker, Victor Oko-Jumbo, commissioned the Gwara Rural Electrification Rehabilitation Project on Tuesday.
This Rural Electrification Rehabilitation Project commissioned has brought a smile to the faces of citizens inhabiting the nine communities since 2016 they were disconnected, and they Gbam Boue, Nyokwiri Boue, Kerike Boue, and other communities in Khana LGA of Rivers State.

The light-up event took place yesterday at Gwara community, Khana LGA, a flagged-off initiative of the Caretaker Committee (CTC), the Marvin Yobana Caretaker Committee (CTC), which aligned with the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
However, RSHA speaker Oko-Jumbo praised and appreciated CTC boss the community for cooperation and maintained a peaceful atmosphere during the time of the ceremony.
He further stated that he will convey their appeal to the state governor for reconstruction of their roads and the roofing of their healthcare centre, noting that their needs will be addressed.
During the event, Oko-Jumbo said that the forthcoming LG election will be conducted as scheduled on 5 October.
While he appealed for their support for the coming election, he praised the Gbam Boue community for protecting government infrastructure as they hold the traditional heritage and custodian of culture.
Recounting their plight, Neeka Dansang, the paramount ruler of the Gbam Boue community, said the nine communities have suffered from darkness for years due to neglect by successive governments, as he appreciated the CTC boss for the restoration of electricity.
In response, the CTC boss revealed that other development projects will be carried out, and he prioritises the welfare of the communities.
Speaking further, the Rector of Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic Bori, Engr. Ledum Gwarah, hailed Yobana, the CTC boss, for his effort in bringing development to his community, as it will improve the economic activities and also enhance security in the area.
