NFF Sets Precedent with Historic Retirement Ceremony

In a groundbreaking move, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) leadership hosted a pioneering send-off ceremony for 20 dedicated staff members who retired between 2019 and the present.

This unprecedented event not only celebrated their remarkable service but also provided financial benefits, setting a new standard for employee recognition. The esteemed retirees, including former Director of Competitions Bola Oyeyode, former Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria National League Lawrence Katken, and former Director of Finance & Admin Babatunde Akinsanya, among others, were honored for their tireless contributions to the Federation.

NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi emphasized the significance of this occasion, stating, “We aim to acknowledge and reward the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our staff, demonstrating that their efforts are valued and appreciated.”

This ceremony marks a significant shift in the NFF’s approach to employee recognition, sending a clear message that their well-being and contributions are paramount. As Dr. Sanusi noted, “The interest of the Federation and Nigeria Football is paramount, and we will continue to prioritize rewarding excellence.”

Babatunde Akinsanya, speaking on behalf of the retirees, praised the Ibrahim Gusau administration for this innovative initiative, which will undoubtedly benefit future generations of staff members.

This historic event sets a new benchmark for employee appreciation in Nigerian football, reflecting the NFF’s commitment to valuing and supporting its dedicated staff.
