The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has released a call for the position of coach of the national beach soccer team, also known as the Supersand Eagles. This follows a position that the federation is looking to fill quickly as it prepares for the upcoming matches.
To participate in at least one beach soccer refresher course organized by the NFF, one must know the latest rules and dynamics of beach soccer and have at least a CAF C coaching license. In addition, applicants must be actively involved in beach soccer for the last three years. Playing experience at local and international level is beneficial.
The NFF has set the deadline to apply to be Friday, July 12, 2024, at midnight. The selection process is expected to be quick and the successful candidate will be announced shortly after the application deadline. Underpinning this urgency is the need to prepare the team for a two-legged beach soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritania.
The Supersand Eagles have a long history in beach soccer, having won the African Beach Soccer Cup twice, in 2007 and 2009. They also had notable success at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, reaching the quarter-finals. in 2006 and 2011. The team has experienced mixed performances in recent years, including an exit from the 2022 race.
