The incident that occurred in Rumudike Street Alakahia, Obio/Akpor, Rivers State is truly distressing, as the area is known as a Student village for the students of the University of Port-Harcourt.
An apartment building was robbed before the dawn of a new day. The robbery that took place during the early hours of 24th June 2024, where the robbers managed to breach the estate’s security and absconded with about ten generator sets and other valuable items, undoubtedly left the residents in shock and fear. This event serves as a stark reminder of the critical need for robust security measures and heightened vigilance in our neighborhoods.
It’s a call to action for all community members to prioritize safety and take proactive steps to protect their homes and possessions from such criminal activities. And a clarion call for the Rivers State Police Command to heighten its security. A resident of the neighborhood in an exclusive chat with ThePortCitynews said that the inhabitants of the Apartments woke up to a shocker as their generator sets were stolen.
This can be said to be caused by the energy supplier’s low distribution of Energy and Electricity across the Treasure base of the Nation, Rivers state, which has led to the populace putting their faith in alternative power supplies such as Solar Panels and generators set and thereby causing these alternatives to become staple goods and hot cakes in the Commercial setup of Rivers state. The armed robbers now target these alternative power supplies as they can make fortunes by selling them in the black market as refurbished goods.
By coming together as a community, staying alert, and implementing effective security strategies, we can create a safer environment for everyone. Let’s stand united against such acts and work towards ensuring the security and well-being of our beloved neighborhoods and their environs.
