In a bid to ease the burden for parents and self-sponsored students, Rt Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has made available the sum of three million naira for a school fee grant.
The grant is for students in public tertiary institutions of Bonny origin.
This was made known to TPCN on Tuesday by the Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker, Mr. Stephen Banigo.
He explained that the funds were made available in view of the current economic hardship plaguing the country and the need to ease the burden for parents and self-sponsored students.
Banigo also noted that the gesture was to ensure that finance does not hinder the educational pursuits of people in Bonny LGA.

He further listed the names of the disbursement committee members, as approved by the speaker, to include:
1. Hon Lali Green – Chairman
2. Mr Robert Jumbo – Co-Chairman
3. Mr Awoiyeala Allison – Secretary
4. Comr Precious George-Hart – Member (SSA – Student Affairs)
5. Comr Sylvanus Omoni – Member (BYF)
6. Mr Jude Pepple – Member (BGF)
7. Comr Isaac Tamunobarabonye Wilcox, -Member (NUBS)
Banigo further stressed that the disbursement of funds to deserving students with well-spelled-out criteria is to commence with immediate effect.
