As the fight against terrorists continues, Nigerian troops have arrested three members and neutralised six of the terrorist recruits in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed on Thursday that troops of the One-Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch carried out this operation with no further disclosure as regards to the operation time.
According to Punch, the commissioner told newsmen in Kaduna that troops conducted a special fighting patrol in the Galadimawa general area in Giwa LG.
However, he further added that the troops signalled at their initial position at Sabon Sara village that the insurgents had fled, leaving behind a herd of rustled cattle as they took to their hill.
He further explained that the insurgents were sighted at Market Square in Galadimawa by the troops and were involved in a gun battle that resulted in the deaths of six terrorists.
Furthermore, a search was conducted at the market, which led to the arrest of three suspected informants and collaborators who allegedly offered assistance to the insurgents. The recovered items were four mobile phones and two motorcycles.
Although after recovering the cattle, the troops returned the cattle to their locals.

The commissioner said the state Governor, Uba Sani praised the troops under the leadership of Maj-Gen. MLD Saraso for their efforts in combating insurgency in the state.
He said “Special operations will continue in the general area and other locations of interest.”
“In the meantime, the Government of Kaduna State hereby appeals to locals in frontline communities to continue to volunteer timely intelligence to the nearest security formations, or the 24-hour security operations room.”
