Prince Ajibola Afonja, the former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria, bid farewell to this world on the fateful night of May 19th at the University College Hospital in Ibadan. He served with distinction as the Minister of Labour during the Ernest Shonekan interim government of 1993, bringing his expertise and vision to bear on national matters. Additionally, he was a member of the All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP), contributing his wisdom and leadership to the political discourse of the nation.

As the chairman of the Board of Directors of First Bank Plc Nigeria, he steered the institution with a steady hand, guiding it through periods of both prosperity and challenge.
