40 year-old bouncer allegedly defiles minor in Rivers

Tina Amanda

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested one Obadiah for allegedly defiling a minor at Ojike Street, Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The suspect, Obadiah, who is in his early forties, works as a bouncer (Doorman) in one of the nightclubs in Port Harcourt.

A source in the area disclosed to our Correspondent that the suspect had sent the thirteen-year-old girl victim on an errand to buy him snacks last week, Friday, 30 June 2023.

According to the source, when the girl returned from the errand, the suspect asked her to bring the snacks inside his room, which the unsuspecting victim did, and immediately Obadiah locked his room door and raised the volume of his radio set while he defiled the victim.

Our Correspondent gathered that a co-tenant of the suspect, who noticed it took time before the victim came out of the suspect room, approached the girl later in the day. The victim narrated the ordeal to Obadiah’s co-tenant, who then reported it to the Mile 1 Police Division, which led to the suspect’s arrest last Sunday, 2 June 2023.

Confirming the incident to our Correspondent, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, said the suspect had been transferred from Mile 1 Police Division to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt, for discreet investigation.
