Tension has risen in the camp of cult groups terrorizing Ahoada East- West local government areas following the redeployment of SP Bako to the Ahoada East Police Division and another crime fighter DPO to the Akinima Police Division.
Our Correspondent gathered that the actions of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Emeka, are to ensure cultism and other violent crimes are effectively tackled in Ahoada East and Ahoada West LGAs.
According to the report, investigation has shown that the level of insecurity in Emohua, Ahoada East, and West LGA, known as flash points for cult-related killings, has drastically reduced since the assumption of office of CP Emeka.
In an interview, a stakeholder in the area and Public Relations Officer of Akoh Youth Congress, Akoh kingdom, Ahoada East, Hector Chinem, commended the Commissioner of Police for the strategic deployment of his personnel known to be crime fighters to the Divisions in the area.
Chinem further said the deployment by the Rivers Police Boss would reduce crime to zero in the various communities in Ahoada.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the redeployment of the DPOs to Ahoada East and West LGA.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police had on Thursday, 8 June 2023, held a stakeholders meeting with Local Government Chairmen from Emohua, Omuma, Etche, Ikwerre, Obio/Akpor, PortHarcourt LGAs, Traditional rulers, Youth leaders, Community Development Committee (CDC) to ensure maximum security in the state.
CP Emeka had urged Traditional rulers in the meeting to identify and give Police helpful information about criminal elements in their domain, as crime can be effectively tackled by collaboration with the community and the Police.
He said such information given to the Police must be devoid of sentiment, bias and witch-hunt.
