Police kill four cultists in Rivers during shootout

Four suspected members of the Degbam Cult group were killed in a gun battle with operatives of Rivers State Police Command at Ndele Community, Emohua Local Government Area.

Briefing journalists on the incident, Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Emeka, said on June 2, 2023, the Degbam cultists invaded the Ndele community.

According to him, personnel of Rumuji Police Division and local Vigilance group acting on credible intelligence intercepted the cultists. In exchange for gunfire, some hoodlums named Chinomezi, aka Nickaaro the Armourer, Chinza Orji, Okunna, aka okosa were killed.

CP Emeka disclosed that four of the killed cultists participated in the killing and beheading of four persons in the community on May 30, 2023.

Our Correspondent report that the exhibits recovered are two (2) pump action guns, one locally made gun and empty cartridges of AK 47.

He, however, promised to maintain the existing peace while soliciting support and information from the public.

The Commissioner of Police had, in his maiden speech, promised to tackle all manner of crime and criminality in Rivers State.
