Okochiri turns to Mecca as Ateke celebrates birthday

From 2p.m. on Friday, 2nd June, 2023, the ancient town of Okochiri in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State will become like a mini Mecca, as a mammoth crowd of guests are expected to flock there to witness the birthday celebration of King Michael Ateke Tom, the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom

It is gathered that guests are expected to come from different parts of Nigeria to celebrate with the influential monarch.

Apart from King Ateke Tom’s fellow traditional rulers and celebrities from the music and comedy industries as well as Nollywood, government officials from the local government, state and federal government levels are also expected to grace the event which will be celebrated in his palace.

There is rumour that the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, might also attend the event. But at the time of doing this report, the rumour was yet to be confirmed.

Already, goodwill messages are pouring in for the Okochiri King from his well wishers across Rivers State.

Checks revealed that some of those who have sent such goodwill messages to him include the chairman of Okrika LGA, Akuro Tobin, the paramount ruler of Evo Town and Eze Gbakagbaka II, Leslie Eke, former Chief Whip of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Evans Bipi, among others.

According to sources, some popular Nigerian artistes and comedians are expected to perform at the event.
