Police dismiss Inspector for shooting man to death in Delta

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed one of its inspectors for shooting a young man to death in Asaba, Delta State.

The dismissed officer, identified as Ubi Ebri while on routine stop and search duty, had shot the young man dead and ran away with his colleagues.

In a statement by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, he said Inspector Ebri will be charged in court today, Wednesday.

In a related matter, NPF has deranked one Adejoh Siaka from inspector to sergeant for assaulting civilians.

Siaka was one of the officers caught in a viral video assaulting travellers along the Emohua axis of the East-West Road.

Force spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the reduction in rank was after complaints and findings on the video evidence widely circulated on social media of assault, discreditable conduct, and incivility to members of the public, at Emouha, Rivers State, and a follow-up orderly room trial of the affected policemen by the Force Provost Marshal.
