The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has appointed Charles Okechukwu Esimone as the Rivers State Returning Officer for the March 18 Gubernatorial and House of Assembly election.
Esimone, who is a Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, is the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Nigeria.
Recall that the Returning officer for Rivers State Presidential Elections, Teddy Charles Adia had cried out over threats to his life.
Professor Adia who is the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Otuoke said he has received several calls and text messages from the Public threatening to deal with him for an alleged compromise.
He also called on all the security agencies to help protect his life.
