Breaking: Gunmen attack home of Wike’s ex-comissioner with dynamites

Gunmen on Friday morning attacked the home of Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja, the former Commissioner for water resources at Rebisi Garden, GRA Port Harcourt.

Eyewitnesses said the gunmen invaded the area around 2 am, shooting sporadically and throwing dynamites into the building.

Gogo-Jaja who served as commissioner for education and water resources under Governor Nyesom Wike’s administration is a supporter of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

It was gathered that the hoodlums had surveyed the building earlier in the evening, asking people to show them where the Opobo-native lives.

Sources told Theportcitynews that the former Commissioner was later informed about the surveillance prompting him not to sleep in the house at night.

The sources said two of the attackers were shot by mobile police men attached to the politician, adding that the deceased attacker was identified as Destiny Benebo, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) and a staff of the Rivers State Road Maintenance Agency under the leadership of Chief Timothy Nsirim.

As of the time of filing this report, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, spokeswoman of the Rivers State Police Command was yet to respond to inquiries for comments.

Details later.
