Operatives of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service on Thursday rescued a student of Federal University, Otueke, from the hands of suspected criminal gangs along the Tombia-Etegwe market area in Yenagoa.

The victim, whose identity is yet to be verified, was stabbed and robbed by the gang members before being rescued close to death.

The Chairman of the vigilant Service, Doubiye Alagba, who confirmed the development, said the quick intervention of the Vigilante operatives saved the life of the FUO undergraduate and led to the arrest of one Ezekiel Samson, aged 30, who hails from Ekeremor LGA of the state.

Alagba further disclosed that his team had rushed the victim to Gloryland Hospital, Yenagoa, for emergency care and is still unconscious due to the injury he sustained during his ordeal.

“We are yet to get his complete identity because of his current condition.

“The suspect has been handed over to the Akenfa Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Bayelsa State Command, for further investigation”, he noted.
