A mother of five children, Beatrice Mbari, whose husband was arrested by the Police for inflicting grievous bodily harm on her at their residence in Bundu Ama, Port Harcourt local government area of the state, over his female lover, is seeking justice.
In an interview with our correspondent, Beatrice Mbari noted how her husband assaulted her on Thursday, 10 November 2022, and later threw her out of the apartment over the report he received from his female lover, identified as Helen.
The woman who expressed fear for her life said it is not the first time he is battering and assaulting her because of his lover, just as she worries that he might beat her to death someday if she continues to stay with him.
She thanked the officers from Central Police Station Aggrey Road, Port Harcourt City, for their swift response in getting him arrested while calling on FIDA to help her ensure justice prevailed on the matter.
“My husband beat me up and damaged my face; he punched me in the eye and dragged me round the kitchen; I have not been able to see well since then. He threatened that he would kill me and nothing would happen; a neighbour who came in to rescue me, chased him away.
“We were not quarrelling; it’s because of his girlfriend; he beat me up like this, naked me and threw me out of the house. He said I do not have the right to talk to his lover. Since that Thursday, 10, I have been managing in my elder sister’s house with my children.
“I do not want to be with him in the same house again. To avoid a repeat of this kind of assault, he should get me somewhere else to stay and let him take care of his children. His lover wants him to kill me so she will take over the house.
Meanwhile, Confidence Mbari, the first daughter of Beatrice Mbari, asked relevant authorities to intervene and end the constant beating of her mother by her father.
“I got a call when I got to the house; my mother had already escaped from him to another compound. It’s not the first time this has happened, which is why we want to take this action. I want an end to it because one day, he might kill her for me”.
