Nigeria’s representative at the CAF Women’s Champions League Bayelsa Queens will face Simba Queens of Tanzania in the third-place match of the competition after their zero-one loss to ASFAR of Morocco in the semi-final of the tournament.
Ibtissam Jraidi’s solitary first-half effort was all ASFAR of Morocco needed to guarantee their place in the final of the competition for the first time.
The result sees the hosts surpass their previous best last year, having bowed to Hasaacas Ladies in the semi-final in Egypt and also complete a double over Nigeria, having stopped the Super Falcons at the same stage in July, during the CAF Women’s Nations Cup.
Bayelsa Queens will now turn their attention to earning a consolatory bronze when they face up with Simba Queens in the third-place match at Moulay Hassan on November 12.
Simba Queens lost zero one to the defending Champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in the last four.
However, Mamelodi Sundowns will now face ASFAR of Morocco in the finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League on Sunday.
The winners of the competition will take home USD 400 000 while the runners-up will take USD 250 000.
The two losing semi-finalists will each receive USD 200 000.
