Atletico Madrid fans against signing of Cristiano Ronaldo

Atletico Madrid fans have started a campaign online to cooperatively voice their anger at the club’s alleged interest in signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester united.

Earlier reports had cleared the air of Atletico Madrid interest about the signing but it still looks like they are in talks with the Spanish side.

The Portuguese superstar is looking to exit Manchester United this summer after just one year. Due to the fact he wants to play champions league football and Man utd aren’t in the champions league

Spanish reports imply that Atletico are interested in Ronaldo’s signature and are willing to offload Antoine Griezmann in order to free up room on their wages.

Despite that, Atletico fans aren’t happy with this update, and are persistent that the club should not sign a player whose legacy is heavily tied to rivals Real Madrid.

Atletico supporters have begun using ‘#ContraCR7‘ which translates to ‘against CR7’ – in order to make their voices heard.

On the hand Ronaldo has played against Atletico more than any other team in his long and illustrious career, coming up against Atleti 37 times and winning 17 of those encounters.

He’s scored 25 goals against them and played an important role in Real Madrid’s 2014 and 2016 Champions League final wins against their city rivals.

Nevertheless, Atletico Madrid have the better of Ronaldo in their most recent encounter, knocking out Man Utd from the Champions League in last season’s round of 16. What are your thoughts on this?
