Desmond Iwuchukwu

The Special Adviser on Real Madrid Football Academy to the Rivers State Governor, Barr. Chris Green has assured Nigerians that newly crowned champions of the 2022 Nigeria Professional Football League, Rivers United will make the country proud at the CAF Continental games.

Rivers United will represent Nigeria at the CAF Champions League competition after winning the 2021/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL.

The erudite lawyer and football administrator while speaking to newsmen after Rivers United were confirmed champions of NPFL.

Chris Green who won the nation’s cup with the super eagles of Nigeria in 2013 and qualify the nation for the last world cup in Russia as the technical Committee chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, said the giant strides recorded were a result of the unflinching support from the Rivers State governor.

He added that his years of experience in football management also contributed to the success of the team.

“This is coming like fresh dawn to the people of Rivers State. They have waited for a day like this and finally, it has come. The magic was done by the governance of His Excellency, Nyesom Wike because of his wisdom, he moved Rivers United from the Ministry of Sports, and I, superintendent, over it.

“With four matches to go, it is unprecedented. Rivers United has broken records only in one season just because of the singular action of the governor.

“It’s a lesson for everybody that you don’t throw away experience. We need square pegs in square holes. With this, we still have people that can do these things. I can assure Nigerians is that we will be very good ambassadors.” he said
