Owo church attack: APC complicit in terror attacks in Nigeria – PDP alleges

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned Sunday’s attack at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, which left no less than 50 worshipers dead.

PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, in Abuja, said the attack further confirms APC’s complicity in terrorism in Nigeria.

According to the opposition party, it’s surprising that the terrorists invaded the church, opened fire on worshippers, freely murdered Nigerians in cold blood, and left unchallenged.

“The PDP is also appalled by the lame and disconnected press statement by the Buhari Presidency which did not demonstrate any Presidential empathy, concern, assurances, and commitment expected of a Commander in Chief, who should be a Comforter in Chief in the face of such horrific terrorist attack on the country.

“The feeble and insensitive statement by the Presidency is a further confirmation of the tacit sympathy for terrorism by the APC administration.

“This is because in saner climes the President would personally address the nation on the gruesome murder of many citizens under his care.

“President Muhammadu Buhari’s personal silence is deafening and points to allegations in the public space that terrorists are enjoying tacit accommodation from the highest level of the APC administration.

“It is indeed unpardonable that as terrorists were murdering our citizens in Owo, President Buhari was busy in the comfort, luxury, and safety of the Presidential Villa, having a dinner with APC leaders and conducting political meetings aimed at perpetuating APC’s fraudulent, insensitive, inhumane and vicious government on hapless Nigerians,” the statement stated partly.

It expressed fear that the Owo attack may be another plot by the APC to allegedly trigger tension among Nigerians and derail the 2023 general elections.

The PDP wondered how President Buhari sleeps at night seeing “the gruesome murder and butchering of our citizens daily.”

The party further accused the President of being “incapable, incompetent and does not possess the capacity and integrity to hold office as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“He is a failed leader and history will not be kind to him and his administration for his abysmal failure in office,” it added.

PDP charged Buhari to live up to his oath of office and not to continue to use Nigerians as expendables in APC’s ignoble pact with terrorists.
