Fubara’s emergence, an act of God – Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has reacted to the emergence of former Accountant General of the State, Fubara Siminayi as the governorship flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.

Fubara, who was in the race with over 14 other candidates emerged with a total of seven hundred and twenty-one votes (721) to win the party’s primary held at the Dr. Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

The Opobo-born, who has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission won 19 local government areas, out of the 23 LGA in the state.

Fubara and four other Rivers State government officials were declared wanted for suspected N117 billion fraud, alleged criminal conspiracy, money laundering, misappropriation of public funds, and abuse of office.

However, reacting to Fubara’s win on Wednesday, Governor Wike, said the party now has a candidate that would take over from him.

He described the latter’s emergence as an act of God, assuring that he would emerge winner at the polls in 2023 because of PDP’s achievement in the state.

Wike, who recalled that he was in doubt that he would become governor in 2015, said Fubara never knew he would emerge the flagbearer of the party.

He also called on residents to ensure that the deal is sealed in 2023 by voting PDP.
