Stop Muslims from killing Christians over blasphemy, CLO tells Buhari

Brave Dickson

The Civil Liberty Organisation in Rivers State has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to take stringent measures that will stop Muslims from killing Christians under the pretext of blasphemy.

The group said the barbaric killing of innocent Deborah Samuel and several other Christians in the past by Muslims is enough to put an end to blasphemy-related-killings.

The state Chairman of CLO, Clifford Solomon said the call on Buhari to decisively end such killing was necessary because it can cause major religious war in the country if it continues.

“How many Muslims have been killed by Christians over blasphemy?

“Are Muslims not blaspheming Jesus every day in the North and South? So, it is only a Christian that should be killed for blasphemy when the constitution of the country has given everyone the right to life.

“If blasphemy means to speak ills against God, it is better for God to determine who has blasphemed Him or not? When has it become the duty of Muslims to decide for God to the extent of killing a Christian?

“The killers of Deborah have to be killed too and quickly because the offence they committed is murder and no two ways about it,” Solomon said.

The state CLO also backed the Sunday planned protest by the Christian Association of Nigeria across the country, pledging to join the protest.
