APC congress: Abe’s supporters accuse Amaechi of ordering police to shoot protesters

Brave Dickson

Supporters of a former federal lawmaker, Senator Magnus Abe have accused the immediate past Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi of ordering police to shoot peaceful protesters.

The supporters of Abe were at the APC secretariat on Wednesday to protest alleged exclusion from the party’s ward congress.

The President-General of the Rivers Voice for Freedom, Dominic Dumekpigi told our correspondent that trouble started when Amaechi who is also a presidential aspirant of the party allegedly gave bribe to Omale led committee to rig out Abe’s supporters from the congress.

He said, “Amaechi bribed the committee in charge of conducting the congress to rig out Abe’s supporters.

“While the committee refused selling us congress forms, same committee was busy giving out forms to Amaechi’s loyalists in an unknown destination.

“This is a repeat of what happened in 2019 that disqualified APC from the state ballots.

“We took our grievances to the state party secretariat in Port Harcourt to register our displeasure.

“Amaechi ordered the police to shoot live bullets at us.

“As I speak to you, a lot of our followers have been badly injured and hospitalised.”

The supporters also insisted that they will not allow Amaechi to rig out Abe from the forthcoming party primary.
