Residents lament lack of drinking water in Rivers community

Tina Amanda
Resident who reside within the sandfill area in Anyungubiri Community, Okrika local government area have cried out over the unhygienic means of water supply in the area.

Our correspondent who visited the community reports that the water pipe is channeled to a gutter where the people dip their buckets and gallons to fetch from the mouth of the pipe.

Some resident who spoke to our correspondent said the poor state of the water connection has been that way for a long time without any adequate attention given to reconstruct the water pipe.

They narrated that the water pipe is channeled from the river and most times when the tides come, it overflows into the water pipe.

They, however, blamed their leaders for neglecting to provide portable means of water supply in the area or reconstruct the water pipe in a more appropriate way.
