Volunteers fighting for a riverine governor will be rewarded by God – Dakuku Peterside

As the race for who becomes the governor of Rivers State continues to heat up, A group known as Ijaw Wari Worldwide says it is time for the Ijaws to produce the next governor of the State.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to former DG NIMASA, Dr Dakuku Peterside, Director-General of the group, Comrade Somina Wokoma, disclosed that the Ijaw Wari Worldwide would ensure that no stone is left unturned in its quest to actualize the dreams of an Ijaw governor in 2023.

He maintained that to achieve it, all traditional rulers, Chiefs and stakeholders must get involved and interface with all aspirants in order to select a credible candidate from the Ijaw ethnic nationality as governor of Rivers State come 2023.

In his response, the former Director-General of NIMASA, who was also the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC in the 2015 election commended the Ijaw Wari Worldwide for preaching the gospel of peace, unity and oneness among the Ijaws in Rivers State, for their men and women to take over the Brick House in 2023.

Dakuku described the move as divine, saying that it will, in conscience, restore the stolen mandate of the Riverine in Rivers politics, noting that it will galvanize and refocus the attention of the Ijaw people to be ready for political battle for those that have political vision.

“It is in fairness for the Riverine to fight for political justice and equity, come 2023, such volunteers shall be rewarded by God and would also gain a victory from the sight of God and the gods of the land.”

He noted that the move for a Riverine Governor is a dedicated course for all sons and daughters in spite of community and ethnic interest, but a common ground for one political interest, while urging Ijaw Wari Worldwide to continue the good job.

Dakuku further advised those who are not ready for the battle to stay away from the struggle as power is not given but taken.

The Former NIMASA Boss frowned at the attitude displayed by some Ijaws who bore arms and lavished money in the fight against the opportunity for an Ijaw man to emerge as Governor of Rivers State in 2015, describing it as an act of ignorance.

He advised those with such tendencies or intentions at the forthcoming election to desist as it would jeopardize the political will of the founding fathers who sacrificed their lives and resources for the creation of Rivers State in 1967.

On his part, His Royal Highness, Dr Diamond Tobin-West, maintained that the era of dividing the Riverine people against themselves in every Governorship election is now a thing of the past as the Ijaw ethnic nationality will speak with one voice to achieve the divine mandate.

“We, the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs, will do well to unite our people to speak in one voice to achieve this divine mandate. 2023, we must do it. If it will warrant us to sit on the floor to achieve this mandate, we will do it to ensure that somebody from the Riverine emerges as the Governor of Rivers State.”
