IYC to riverine: Don’t vote Wike for president, if…

Brave Dickson

The Ijaw Youth Council has called on the riverine communities in Rivers State to only vote for Governor Nyesom Wike for president if he (Wike) supports a riverine governor in 2023.

You recall that Wike had during the weekend announced his interest to contest the 2023 presidential election.

The Chairman of IYC, Kalahari Clan, Edward Asiki-Tams told our correspondent that any aspirant for president including Wike that does not support a riverine governor will not get a riverine vote.

“We have shown patriotism to the upland right from 1999 and it is time for all political parties to ensure that a riverine candidate emerges in the 2023 guber race.

“And in as much as we are demanding for a riverine governor, we equally want a Kalabari person to emerge.

“Our decision is just and fair and we have been sensitizing our riverine brothers and sisters to stand firm and resist any attempt to deny us of the number one seat in the state.”

IYC also hailed those from the riverine community who have come out bold to declare interest for governor come 2023, adding that no force can stop a riverine candidate from clinching the state Brick House.
