President of the Ogoni Liberation Initiative, Dr. Douglas Fabeke has asked Governor Nyesom Wike to reach out to the family of late environmental activist, Ken Saro-wiwa.
The governor had ordered the commissioner for lands and housing and the Secretary to the State Government to commence the process of compulsory acquisition of Saros Plaza, the corporate office complex allegedly belonging to the late Ken Saro-Wiwa.
Wike, who gave the order at the inauguration of the Oro-Abali Flyover, at the Kaduna Street Junction along the Port Harcourt -Aba Expressway in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, said the abandoned complex was defacing the Oro-Abali flyover his administration.
Fabeke, who was reacting to the governor’s statement urged Wike to transform the property as a way of honoring the deceased, who he said paid a price with his life for Rivers people and Niger Deltans.
The Ogoni Liberation Initiative boss also noted that the Ogonis will speak in one voice in 2023 governorship election in the state.
He advised politicians against making unguarded statements capable of making any ethnic group feel marginalised.
