Mrs Doris Cowan, the Chairman of Port Harcourt Water Corporation has said that Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the Government of Rivers State will never be governor of Rivers State.
Mrs Cowan was reacting to the exclusion of her younger sister and wife of the governor of Edo State, Betsy Amachree-Obaseki from the reception of Governor Nyesom Wike in Abalama last month.
She also slammed the Amanyanabo of Abonnema, King Gbogbo BobManuel Disreal for trying to make the members of the Amachree Royal House irrelevant.
In a post on her Facebook account titled ‘WHY WAS H E BETSY AMACHREE-OBASEKI EXCLUDED FROM THE ABALAMA CARNIVAL???’, she said the organizers suppressed the children of Kalabari whom they perceived to be more relevant than them in society and in life generally.
She wrote:
OWUKORI HAS BECOME KING.
HIS FIRST ASSIGNMENT IS TO MAKE ALL OTHER AMACHREES IRRELEVANT! TRUE TO HIS CHARACTER!!
I have waited one month to see people’s reactions to the fiasco called reception for HE NYESOM EZEBUNWO WIKE, EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF RIVERS STATE, by the Kalabari people in Abalama.
It would appear that a lot of preparation went into that program, however, their greatest achievements are their success in showcasing the suppression of children of Kalabari who they perceive are more relevant than them in society and in life generally.
I applaud them for mobilizing Onari Duke. She’s a worthy Kalabari woman, but note that she is one of them, Bob Manuel, the same family as the current Amayanabo of Abonema, Owukori.
She is not a “Kalabari threat” to them. She is only Owukori. Onari and I have a friendship that dates decades. Before we became wives to renowned Efik men, we called ourselves “coz”, all the way back in Lagos when we were starting lives as young Rivers women. Onari and I are very close. We live like Sisters and I am very proud of the sisterhood.
After Abalama, Onari came to my house and the question was: Where is Aunty B, as we refer to HE, Mrs Obaseki. Mrs Obaseki is from the Royal stock of Buguma, not an Abonema offshoot.
Her father was in his time concurrently:
– CHAIRMAN ABI ROYAL COUNCIL OF CHIEFS
– SECRETARY KALABABRI COUNCIL OF CHIEFS.
He was a great man of distinction. His daughter was more than worthy of recognition in Abalama.
How come Owukori’s descendant, who was First Lady many years ago was invited, made to sit in the front row for effect and Da Abi’s daughter, HE Betsy Bene Amachree- Obaseki, CURRENT FIRST LADY, EDO STATE, NIGERIA was not recognized or referred to in any way?????

WHY DID YOU EXCLUDE MRS OBASEKI IN ABALAMA?
WAS HER INCLUSION SO HARD FOR YOU, YOU HAD TO EXCLUDE HER IN THIS MANNER? Alaba, Dax, Chief Alabraba, HE Disrael Bob Manuel, Major Jack etc, you so-called Abalama conveners owe us an explanation.
The truth is not far to see: Owukori wants to suffocate the rest of Kalabari so that only his lineage can thrive. Owukori having attained FIRST CLASS CHIEFTAINCY through Alaba, wants to ensure the propagation of Owukori at the State level at all cost for his benefit.
OWUKORI WANTS TO OUTSHINE HIS FATHER, AMACHREE. SUCH IS HIS NATURE! OWUKORI WANTS TO BE THE FATHER OF THE GOVERNOR OF RIVERS STATE! OWUKORI WANTS TO ESTABLISH ANOTHER FIRST IN HIS TIME!
When HM Bob Manuel was made First class Chief, I was warned about his character. I ignored it. I even congratulated him on his elevation. How can he think he can get away with this? When did feet start tying knots around hands? Owukori rose to fill a vacancy with the help of Alaba. He should count his blessings and rule fairly. Any attempt to sit on “Amachree” will spell his doom!
To attempt to dominate Kalabari forever, through an Alaba Governorship is as dead on arrival as can be! When your intentions are not honourable and you try to manipulate “life”, life teaches you a lesson! Your intentions are easily detected! Alaba, you will never be Governor of Rivers State! You are too unintelligent to pull off the coup you are planning.
I’m only one, but not alone. We will stop you! Your intentions are evil. God will not allow it.
As for the rest of our leaders that displayed ultimate selfishness at Abalama, I still ask, why did you not engage Mrs Obaseki for the event? Who is the most prominent Kalabari person in Nigeria today??? I am her elder sister. In refusing to give Da Amachree a voice through her, you made an expensive mistake that will cost you!! Do you now see that my grouse in Abalama was not about not being allowed to speak???
