Chairman Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Port Harcourt Zone, Comrade Mina Samuel, has assured to protect the right of workers through better welfare package and Job security.

Comrade Samuel, who disclosed this in an interview, after being re-elected into office as Chairman NUPENG Port Harcourt, said he will continue to ensure that the core mandate of the Union which is to fight members’ welfare is implemented to the letter.

According to him, NUPENG in the past four years has grown with a new face of dialogue, negotiation, noting that the days of breaking tables in disagreement with managements and government are over.

He, however, called for members’ collaboration in order to move the union forward, while thanking everyone for their support in returning him into office.

“For NUPENG our utmost priority and goal are to protect members’ welfare, during the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic we did our best to ensure our members remained on their job.

“Sincerely, as NUPENG we have passed the stage where we break tables and hit chairs we are beyond that. We are now in the era of negotiations, dialogue and of cause, the able leadership of NUPENG president does not call for that, because we believe more in management and stakeholders round table negotiations”

“Having been re-elected as Chairman it is to consolidate what we have done in the past four years and do better, to collaborate with the management and workers to move the union forward. I sincerely thank my fellow comrades both national and state, that gave me the second mandate, so I seek everyone’s indulgence for us to achieve our main goals.

Comrade Samuel further thanked Governor Nyesom Wike for his support towards NUPENG, while reiterating the union support to the government for peaceful co-existence.

“I want to commend the management for their continuous dialogue, also thank Governor Nyesom Wike for his tremendous support to us as a Union and his effort in ensuring security in the state. He is our brother, uncle, elder and we will continue to support him to achieve his own goal for the state.”
