President Buhari to sign Electoral Bill soon – Adesina

The presidency has assured that President Muhammadu Buhari would sign the reviewed Electoral Act Amendment Bill into law in a short period of time.

This was disclosed on Tuesday, by the Special Adviser to President Buhari, on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina when he featured on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

Recall that the National Assembly, had on January 31, transmitted the amended bill to the President for assent after he had rejected it because of a clause in it.

However, according to Adesina on Tuesday, the president could sign the bill at any time.

He said, “It could be signed today; it could be signed tomorrow. In a matter of hours, not days. Hours could be 24 hours, it could be 48 hours; not days, not weeks.”

The President is expected to sign the bill within 30 days of its passage.

The presidency on Monday, had criticised groups and individuals who were calling out President Buhari over his alleged reluctance towards giving assent to the bill.
