Port Harcourt: Man dies in hotel room hours after checking in with a lady

A man whose identity is yet to be known has died in an hotel room located at the Ada George axis Port Harcourt after checking in with a lady.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, 16 February, 2022.

A guest in the hotel who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent in an interview that at about 2 am, the lady who checked in with the deceased man rushed out and knocked at the door of another room, raising alarm that the man she came with has slumped.

According to the guest, the manager of the hotel and some security men rushed the man to hospital where he was confirmed dead and the matter was reported to the Police.

Another source at the hotel disclosed that the lady said the deceased man allegedly took drink suspected to be ‘man power’ at a local gin joint on Tuesday night before they lodged in the hotel.

As at press time, the manager of the hotel and the lady are been detained at Rumupakani (Ada George) Police Divisional Port Harcourt.

The case is expected to be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Port Harcourt for further investigation.

Reacting to the development, Public Relation Officer Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the command is aware of the incident and investigation is ongoing.
