2023: I’m still consulting critical stakeholders to avoid mistakes – Abe

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe, has given reasons why he is yet to declare his intention to contest for the governorship seat of Rivers State in the 2023 elections.

Abe, who spoke at the end of a consultative meeting with the people, elders and members of the Bera Council of Chiefs, at his home town, Bera in Gokana Local Government Area of the state, said the consultation will continue until he finds the enthusiasm in the people.

The lawmaker who represented Rivers Southeast said he is consulting to get the input of all critical stakeholders in order to avoid mistakes.

He said the consultations are a way forward for his political journey and a step to avoid errors that could stall his ambition.

Meanwhile, the APC in the State says it has uncovered plots by some members of the Magnus Abe faction of the party in collaboration with leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state, to ensure that the recent suits in which a judge recused herself from, are reassigned to a “friendly judge” that will do their biddings.

The APC, reacting to a suit by one Ogechi Ogwu-Edwin, Alaibo Soibibo and three others against the party, in a statement by its state legal adviser, Iheanyichukwu Zubi-Dike, said they had faith in the judiciary, and advised judges not to give themselves up as “tools in the hands of politicians to bring down” any political party.

The party, while commending Justice I.R Minakiri for “resisting pressure”, threatened to petition any judge who would in any way attempt to interfere in the internal democracy of the party to the National Judicial Commission, (NJC).

They further urged aggrieved members to join forces with the party under the leadership of Chief Emeka Beke to rescue the Rivers people.
