Former Rivers APC spokesman, Ogbonna Nwuke set to rejoin PDP

Ogbonna Nwuke, a former spokesman of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State is set to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Nwuke resigned his position last week following new development in the party. The former lawmaker in a press release on September 19th said that his decision to quit as the party’s Spokesman is strictly personal.

“We believe that our assignment here has been done. We came at a time of great internal strife, when there was a strong need to effectively connect with the party’s many audiences.

“Everything that has a beginning has an end. It is time to move on and time to concentrate on other things of great interest.

“We want to thank our colleagues, specifically statutory members of the party for the confidence they reposed in us at a critical time in the midst of our collective struggle. We benefitted immensely from their moral support, goodwill and encouragement.

“Let me add that while we wait on our Creator and what the future holds for us, we did everything within our power to deliver on the mandate that we were given.”

However, sources in the party said Mr Nwuke resigned over the decision of the party to make another chieftain, Mr Emeka Bekee, the substantive chairman.

According to the sources, Nwuke and others feel Mr Bekee lacks the political weight to paddle the muddy waters of Rivers politics.

It was gathered that after his resignation, Mr Nwuke held a top-level meeting in ward 5, in his Okomoko community in Etche where he resolved to rejoin the PDP.

A source who was at the meeting told theportcitynews that Nwuke is expected to formerly announce his defection to the PDP on October 2nd.
