Pirates abduct 5 travellers in Rivers

Suspected sea pirates terrorizing the Bonny-Port Harcourt sea route have abducted five persons on the waterways.

It was gathered that the incident took place in the early hours of Tuesday.

The suspected sea pirates were said to have ambushed a speed boat travelling to Bonny from Port Harcourt and abducted their targets.

The officer in charge of the Marine Police, Bonny, Solomon Adeniyi who confirmed the incident said the attack has been reported to the marine police in Port Harcourt.

Adeniyi has also assured that his team is assisting in rescue efforts for the victims.

A youth leader in the community who also confirmed the incident said other passengers of the speed boat were allowed to carry on with their journies after the five victims were taken away.
