Rivers APC faction obtains Court order against congresses

The Senator Magnus Abe’s faction of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has obtained an injunction from a High Court in the state to stop the party’s congresses.

The court presided over by Justice Ben White ordered the APC and the party’s caretaker chairman in the state, Isaac Ogbogbula to maintain the status quo.

The judge issued the order pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice of interlocutory injunction filed by Stephen Wonah and six others on July 30.

The seven claimants in suit PHC/1857/CS/2021 established a case against the APC, and the chairman of the state caretaker committee of the party, Isaac Ogbogbula.

The suit, which was served on August 2 is scheduled for hearing on Thursday, August 5.

The judge also gave the APC and Ogbogbula 24 hours to respond to the motion for interlocutory injunction upon receipt.

The court also gave the claimants 24 hours from the date of the receipt of the defendants’ response to react to their counter -affidavit.

The court also ordered that the respondents be served by substituted means at the new APC secretariat in the Government Reservation Area in Port Harcourt.

It was learnt that seven aggrieved members of the party, who paid nomination fees to the party’s dedicated account and received evidence of payment, were denied forms to contest elections into the ward executive council during last Saturday congresses.
