Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom on Monday hosted the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike to a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Lodge of the Benue State Government House, Markurdi.
Governor Ortom, while briefing newsmen disclosed that the meeting was held to settle their differences and strategize on a way forward ahead of the 2023 general elections.
“It is a family meeting. We are here to strategize and reason together; settle our differences and see how we can make our party more vibrant because Nigerians are waiting for the PDP to take over the mantle of leadership in 2023.
“So we have to plan; we have been holding these meetings all over the country. We have been meeting in parts of the country and on the 27th we will also meet in Bauchi.
“It is all in a bid to strategize and give confidence to the Nigerian people who are calling on us to put our house in order so that they would join us to win elections. That is why we are here.”
It will be recalled that Governor Wike had slammed the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus over his poor leadership abilities, which he said had caused mass defection of members to rival party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
