The youths of Krakrama Community, in Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, have vowed not to allow the ongoing construction of the Trans-Kalabari Road that will connect their community to other parts of Kalabari Land to be sabotaged by hoodlums.
The youth chairman of Krakrama Community, Comrade Ikalaso Tubotamuno Clifford, made this known during a chat with TPCN today at the Degema axis of the Trans-Kalabari Road.
TPCN gathered that the Trans-Kalabari Road will be flagged off on Thursday, June 24, by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
Clifford, who described the Trans-Kalabari Road as prayer answered, said the youths would partner with security agents to secure the project.
According to him, awarding the contract for construction of the first phase of the road means that God has finally answered the prayers of the Kalabari people through Governor Wike.
He revealed that work on the project was expected to commence fully after its flag-off by the Governor.
“This project is something that we have been praying for. But to the greatest surprise, God just made it in a twinkling of an eye and we give God all the glory.
“This is a very huge success, not only to the Krakrama Community or the other five communities but to the entire Kalabari Kingdom,” Clifford said.
According to him, the Trans-Kalabari Road will facilitate the economic development of the Kalabari Nation.
“This will open up a lot of economic opportunities to Kalabari as well. So we thank the Executive Governor, Chief Barr. Ezenwo Wike, for making it come to pass at this time,” he said.
On the plans by the youths of Krakrama Community to secure the all important projects, the Krakrama youth chairman said:
“I, personally, the youth chairman of the community, I have set up my own security team – which is the internal security of my community. I have set up about six internal security committees that will mount surveillance in all the sections.
“We have mapped out some sections of our community where these security committees will mount surveillance to give information to the JTF that will work with the company. Our own is to give information to the JTF if we see any strange persons within the environment; we’ll just pass the information to the JTF so that the person can be apprehended.”
One of the elders of Krakrama Community, Chief Ibietela Ayina Thomas-Gbala commended Governor Nyesom Wike for awarding the Trans-Kalabari Road for construction and other projects he is executing all over Rivers State.
“I commend the governor for his numerous projects because I normally watch RSTV every 9 O’clock. Even the new campuses he’s embarking upon. He promised this Trans-Kalabari Road and he has started it. With that, I’m over-happy.” he said
