Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has revealed that the resolutions reached at the Southern Governors Forum’s meeting held in Asaba recently were for the good of the nation.
The governor made this statement on Saturday in Asaba, while speaking at the inauguration session and empowerment of constituents of Minority Leader of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Godwin Elumelu.
He stated that “anyone casting aspersion on the resolutions of the Forum towards a better Nigeria did not mean well for the nation.”
He said that it is time approve the statement issued by the Southern Governors as a map for rebuilding a new Nigeria where all interest groups would be treated equally.
He commended the Southern Governors forum for putting the nation’s interest above tribalism, political affiliations and selfish interest.
He further stated that all issues raised by the governors have been subjects of concern, aimed at helping the country out of its present challenges.
According to him, every elected representative has the right to speak for the people and we, as governors, spoke because things were going contrary to expectations in the country.
