Police ban personnel from escorting VIPs in South East, Rivers State

The Nigeria Police Force has banned personnel from providing escort services to Very Important Personnel in the South East and Rivers State over the killing of officers by gunmen in the region.

A police signal seen by Standard Observers also accused the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Eastern Security Network, ESN, of carrying out the attacks.

The signal with the code “101054/05/2021” and reference number 0900/DTS/DOPS/VOL47/812 emanated from the Commissioner of Police, Delta State.

It reads: “Sequel to the incessant attacks on policemen/ snatching of arms and ammunition by the proscribed IPOB/ESN elements in the eastern states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States and Rivers State, COMPOL DOPS directs you warn personnel that escorts of their principals to the six (6) eastern states are suspended forthwith until the security situation improves. Ensure strict compliance please.”
