Gunmen kill five police, customs officers in Rivers State

Unknown gunmen at midnight on Saturday attacked a Joint Task Force checkpoint at Airport road in Omagwa, Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State, killing two police officers and carting their rifles.

An operational vehicle belonging to the police team was also burnt.

Also at Isiokpo in the same LGA, the gunmen attacked a Customs checkpoint, killing three customs officers and escaping with their operational vehicles and their rifles.

The gunmen also tried to burn down the Isiokpo divisional police officers but were repelled by the officers on duty who were on red alert before they invaded the station.
