FUTO announces first female Vice Chancellor

The governing council of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri has announced the emergence of Prof. Mrs. Nnenna Nnannaya Oti as the new vice chancellor of the University.

She emerged top with a haul of 75.5 points against other candidates.

This announcement was made yesterday by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. John Offem, after a day-long selection and interview of the seven candidates that scaled through the initial selection process.

Prof. Oti graduated with a First class honors in soil science in 1982 from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she also obtained her masters degree in the same department in 1986.

The new Vice Chancellor hails from Afikpo in Ebonyi state and currently holds the office of Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics at the institution.

She is set to resume office as the 7th substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution in June, 2021.
