Police arrest 13 after community’s deadly fight with Rivers Task Force

No less than thirteen people were arrested by the Rivers State Police Command on Monday following a deadly fight between members of the Rivers State Task Force on Illegal Trading and Motor Parks and youths from the Nkpogu Community in Port Harcourt.

Community sources said personnel of the Taskforce team stormed the community market unannounced and started destroying goods and other properties belonging to the indigenes.

They were later said to have invaded the junction of the community where the also harassed and chased tricycle riders.

However, the community youths mobilized and fought back, leaving scores, including operatives of the task force injured.

Felix Nwadibeyi, coordinator of the task force team said youths from Nkpogu first attacked his team.

He said he was forced to call for reinforcement from other teams and security agencies to rescue those that were held, hostage.
