Breaking: Suspected kidnappers kill four police officers in Calabar

At least four police officers were on Thursday shot dead by suspected kidnappers at the Idundu axis of Calabar, the Cross River State capital after they reportedly went to the area to arrest the kidnappers.

It was gathered that the police officers mobilized to the area following a tip-off. However, they were confronted by the superior firepower of the gunmen leading to their death.

A backup team was sent but before then, the gunmen had escaped.

The State police command is yet to react to the development, but a senior police officer with the command who did not want his name made public said the killing of the officers looked “pretty like a set-up”
