Police to work with Miyetti Allah, other stakeholders to stop banditry in Katsina – IGP

Muhammad Adamu, The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), says the police would work with other stakeholders including Miyetti Allah, a cattle breeder association, and other relevant groups to evolve new strategies to secure Katsina State from activities of bandits and kidnappers.

Adamu said this on Wednesday when he visited Katsina State following the abduction and rescue of over 300 schoolboys from Government Science Secondary School in Kankara on December 11.

“We believe we must strategize with other stakeholders, citizens of the state, and cooperative partners like Miyetti Allah and other law enforcement agencies so that every nooks and cranny of the state are manned and not to allow any space for these criminals to operate whether in the morning, afternoon or night,” he said.

According to Humanangle, the police chief assured that the abduction of the students from Government Science Secondary School Ƙankara will never happen again.

According to him, the police is the lead agency responsible for internal security, noting that the police would not give an opportunity for criminals to thrive.

During his visit, the IGP met with the tactical units, the area commanders, the DPOs, and Commanders of Operation Puff Adder as part of efforts to ensure that Katsina State which in recent times has come under attacks from terrorists is made crime-free.

Adamu emphasized the need for synergy between Divisional Police officers and Commanders of Operation Puff Adder, a military operation against banditry in the state.

Earlier, Sanusi Buba, Katsina State Police Commissioner said that the meeting was an avenue for various stakeholders to discuss new strategies to secure the state.
