NCC gives telecommunication subscribers 2 weeks to update NIN record or be blocked

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, asked telecommunication subscribers to update their sim registration data with their National Identification Number, NIN or be blocked.

The directives follows the earlier directive on the suspension of new SIM registration by network operators.

At a meeting conveyed by Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami on Monday, Telcos were given two weeks from Wednesday, December 16, to 30 December, 2020 to block subscribers who do not update their registration details with their NIN.

The meeting had in attendance the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Management of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), as well as the CEOs and Management staff of all service providers in the industry.
