Breaking: Tribunal nullifies Diri’s election

The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal of Bayelsa State in Abuja has nullified the election of Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State and his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

Justice Ibrahim Sirajo who led the three-member panel upheld the petition of the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party (ANDP)
which sort the cancellation of the election over its exclusion from the November 16, 2019 governorship election.

The panel ordered a fresh election in the states within 90 days.

Diri and his deputy were sworn-in after the removal of David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress by the Supreme Court barely 24 hours to his inauguration.
