RSG has enough facilities to host international competitions – Iyaye

Ugochukwu Iwuchukwu

Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Boma Iyaye says the state has facilities to host international sporting events due to the commitment and determination of Governor Nyesom Wike to develop sports in the state.

Boma Iyaye said this in Port Harcourt when he received the President of Cycling Federation of Nigeria, Giandomenico Massari at his office in Port Harcourt.

Boma Iyaye said the State received the Cycling Federation due to the high priority the state attached to sports.

He particularly commended Giandomenico Massari for his efforts and doggedness in promoting cycling as a sport.

Iyaye noted that the efforts of the federation has awakened the interest and participation of cyclists across the country.

Giandomenico Massari had earlier commended Iyaye for his return as sports commissioner and Honour Sirawoo over his appointment as permanent secretary in the Ministry.

Massari said he was particularly impressed with the quality of road networks being undertaken in Port Harcourt by Governor Wike, saying it is a perfect setting for cycling to thrive.

He noted that the federation is in Rivers State to seek for partnership on how to move the sports forward in the country.

President of the federation also said that the body is committed to developing the sports at the grassroots across the country.
